Landscaping Update

Published: October 24, 2021

Fellow Neighbors,

The board of directors would like to provide some updates on the progress and status of select landscaping areas throughout our common areas.

A member of the HOA board met with the director of Planning and Development to confirm the trees along CR376 are within the City of Anna right-of-way and to establish an action plan to correct the dead tree problem. The city has already removed the dead trees, at their expense, in this area which provides much-needed sightlines when exiting the community. The City of Anna Parks and Recreation Department is currently discussing any further action with the remaining trees. This area is not an HOA common area and these decisions must be made with the city before taking action. Removing these trees will prevent future sidewalk, masonry wall, and electrical line damage.

During the fall and winter seasons this year, our flower beds will not contain a seasonal color plant. A previous board member added a plant known as Celosia to our garden beds throughout the community. This species is highly invasive and will spread throughout the garden beds killing adjacent plants. Celosia also attracts several wasps and bees which can be hazardous for individuals near the garden beds, such as the garden beds near the pool entrance. The landscapers are actively removing this plant and will treat the garden beds to prevent regrowth. Due to the treatment required, we will be unable to plant additional seasonal colors. The costs associated with seasonal colors are being reattributed to other landscaping needs throughout the community.

Thank you,
